Stratford Service For Mrs. G. Kallensrud

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 22, at the Stratford Lutheran Church for Mrs. Grant (Marjorie) Kallensrud, 36, who passed away Friday morning, May 18, at Mesa, Arizona following a brief illness. Pastor Robert Carlson is in charge of services.

Mrs. Kallensrud was the former Marjorie Westrum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Westrum, and a graduate of Stratford High School. After her marriage, the couple lived for a time in Fort Dodge, before moving to Mesa, Arizona, about two years ago.

During the service, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Erickson sang "How Great Thou Art" and "In The Garden" accompanied by Mrs. Merlin Angstrom. Casket bearers were Darrel Kelly, Ted Soppeland, Dale Davis, Bill Gottschalke, Garnet Silvey and Dale Simonson.

Survivors include her parents, three brothers, Norman Westrum of Mesa, Arizona, Dale and Verlyn of Stratford; two sisters, Mrs. Gordon Appenzeller, Des Moines and Mrs. Laurice Albrecht of Mason City.

The funeral arrangements were in charge of Hanson Funeral Home at Stratford. Burial was made in South Marion Cemetery.

Obituary of Mrs. Marjorie Kallansrud

Mrs. Marjorie Kallansrud formerly Marjorie Nadean Westrum, the daughter of Ernest and Hazel Westrum, was born on October 31, 1924, on a farm east of Stratford and passed away in Mesa, Arizona on May 18, 1962 at the age of 37 years, 6 months and 18 days. She was brought into the Family of God through baptism as a child, and at the age of 15 she was confirmed in the Stratford Lutheran Church and remained a faithful Christian throughout her life. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Mesa, Arizona.

She was a graduate of the Stratford High School, class of 1942, and worked in and around Stratford for several years. On December 21, 1945, Marjorie was united in marriage to Grant E. Kallansrud and resided in Fort Dodge, Iowa until two years ago when she and her family moved to Mesa, Arizona.

She is survived by her husband, Grant Kallansrud; a daughter and a son, Karla Kay (age 6) and Kevin Kent (age 4); her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Westrum; two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Maurice Albrecht (Betty Jean) of Mason City, Mrs. Gordon Appenzeller (Janice) of Des Moines, Norman of Mesa, Arizona, Verlyn and Dale both of Stratford plus a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kallasnurd, the parents of Grant Kallansrud, are also left to mourn the death of Marjorie, their daughter-in-law, along with many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Kallansrud will be remembered as a faithful friend to many and a loving wife and mother to her family. May God bless her memory among us.
